Brenda Dawe, Music Coordinator and Associate Professor, is a native of Newfoundland, Canada. She teaches Applied Music: Voice and various courses in the Music Program.
She has sung more than thirty leading and supporting roles with opera companies throughout North America, including Arizona Opera, Calgary Opera, Opera Festival of New Jersey, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Opera North, Syracuse Opera, Virginia Opera and Tri-Cities Opera. She has performed with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, Ocean City Pops, Carmagniole Consortium in NYC, Syracuse Symphony, Kings Chorale, Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, Sherburne Choral Society, Catskill Choral Society, Colgate University Chorus and the Downtown Singers in repertoire encompassing Carissimi's Jephte, Bach's B minor Mass, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Exsultate, jubilate, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Brahms' Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Honegger's King David and Karl Jenkin's Requiem.
Besides being a seasoned performer, she is a well-respected voice teacher in the Binghamton, NY area, and was the Musical Director for the Summer Youth Musical Theater Workshop for eighteen years. She is a graduate of Tri-Cities Opera's Resident Artist Training Program, holds a Master of Music from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelors of Music from Acadia University. She is a past president of the Southern Tier Music Teachers Association and an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing where her students have consistently competed at the national level.
Ms. Dawe has won numerous awards for her singing, including the highly esteemed Richard F. Gold Career Grant.
